The Park Is Where It's At

During the summer we go to the park A LOT. The funny thing is the kids only like the gigantic slide and the swings, so we alternate between the two. Phooey on the rest of the equipment. Lydia is not fond of going down the slide by herself so she rides down on my lap.

Occasionally we all go down together.
Lucas is still CRAZY about the infant swings, so it works well for me to have the kids swing in the same area.
Hello, Miss Hollywood! Her sunglasses are a hoot. She picked them out all by herself.

Hello Spring!

Yes, Spring has poked her green goodness up through the earth! Thank you, Lord, for the change in seasons! It's brings me such joy to see bright, green growth in my new garden! I'm not even sure what has been planted in these gardens, so for me our flower beds are a treasure chest. So many exciting things to come!

I know we are in for some chilly days ahead still, but the kids and I are loving the 74 degree weather today. We even gave up our naps for the day! Play, play, play!!!! Tomorrow there are thunderstorms headed our way, so we can catch up on sleep then.

Snowman Gone Bad!

Several days ago we had a nice wet snow so the kids and I headed over to the yard at our new house and constructed a snowman. The kids ditched me after about 5 minutes of watching me roll snow around the yard- can't say as I blame them! But they had fun decorating him! The problem came when I had them stand next to the snowman for their pictures. Lydia kept running away from the snowman and she finally told me she was afraid him. I thought he looked pretty cute!

Notice she has no gloves on... she refuses to keep them on. Poor little hands! Here she is fully recovered from the traumatizing afternoon. The look so adorable and squishy in their winter-wear!

Muddy Boots, Happy Hearts!

Yesterday we had wonderful weather! A balmy 60 degrees! Of course with 8 inches of snow melting away it was a gooey, muddy mess, hence, the black rubber boots. Perfect for getting down and dirty!

After the kids naps we headed outside to see what kind of mess we could make. Initially, we started out in the backyard, but that didn't hold their attention very long. So, we ventured to the driveway where a big snowdrift beckoned us to make snowballs. Lucas and I took turns throwing snowballs at the garage door, while Lydia practiced walking in her boots. She didn't enjoy touching the snow! I noticed some of my tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are starting to poke through the ground. I can hardly wait to see them!

Eventually, we headed off to the park which is within walking distance from home. There were a lot of puddles to splash in along the way. We spent some time swinging and climbing, but mostly they were just having fun walking around (or in Lydia's case, falling down). The 2 hours we spent outside flew by! Boy, have we missed the fresh air! It was already an hour past their normal dinnertime so we headed home...tired, hungry and dirty! But our hearts were satisfied with sunshine, happy spring sounds, and good memories!
