Five Months...

I haven't taken an intentional blog break, but it's been one of the last things on my to-do list. Things have been crazy here with my job situation and just keeping up with life. Especially laundry for five. I had no idea that one little guy could take laundry from manageable to "Do I have any clean underwear?" and "Do we not have one clean burp cloth out of the 500 we own?"on a weekly basis.

But look what I get to wake up to every single day!
He is so cheerful. My own personal little song bird.
I usually get a few minutes alone with him before my other ones wake for the day.
I'm blessed to have these special moments.

(You may not find this as adorable as I do, so feel free to stop this at any time :) )

I hope to be back soon to show you some fun the older kids and I had planting
our garden during our one nice week this Spring :)

She's All About the Bling!

Yesterday, Lydia had to miss an event that was quite important to her. She's had a junky cough with a recurring fever in the evenings. I just didn't feel like I could let her go to this special class. When I told her the news the light just went out of her little eyes. It just about killed me!

So, to make up for such a disappointment we picked up some Caribou Coffee Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal and I let her pick out one piece of jewelry in the clearance section of a local jewelry shop.

Let's just say, the girl likes it sparkly!!! She's quite proud of her new watch!

Simply Saturday: March 5, 2011

Quilting has always brought such contentment and joy to my heart. These days my opportunities to sit down and sew are few and far between. Right now, I'm diligently working on half square triangles for a pinwheel quilt for sweet Lydia. This is the pinwheel block I'm currently working on. I think I'm going to love them when they are done.

Up next: quilts for Lucas and Ethan. They should have them by the time the leave for college :)

Simply Saturday

Today, I'm linking up with my sister today for Simply Saturday. She has recently started a weekly posting where people of all photography levels can post a picture that speaks of home or simplicity.


Something that brings a spirit of contentment for me that seems counterintuitive is baking something fun or challenging on a Saturday afternoon. It doesn't happen every week, but last week I took a stab at Smitten Kitchen's Cinnamon Raisin Bagels. They were definitely time consuming, but worth the effort. It's not something I plan to tackle every week, but it's nice knowing I can make a great bagel on my own. They were SO tasty straight from the oven. I'm looking forward to trying different combinations in the near future! You should give them a try... (I even used all purpose flour- gasp!)
